Covenant opened its office at Pune on the 5th May 2011.
Covenant Expansion - The second week of January saw the Covenantians break new grounds. There was excitement everywhere because we were taking another office -a bigger and better world class 2.5 million sq. ft. state-of-the-art Tech Park. We moved in to the Tower B, Fourth Floor of this Tech Park in Ambattur called "India Land Tech Park".
As the curtains of 2010 raise, we see a blessed year unfold. Covenant sees growth in leaps and bounds. This year our manpower doubled so did our clientèle.
Visit to SU - The Covenantians headed to SU on 22nd Dec 2010 for a days visit. This day we had the soft launch of our 2011 Vision. This day was packed with activity, games and photography. The SU beach was stunning. We stayed there till late evening and watched the sun set. The sky was pale blue with a ting of red and orange. As we watched the fading sun and the clouds, our spirits felt so unleashed with awe for the Painter of the sky.
Annual Thanksgiving, Family Day & Award Ceremony - The Family Day and Award Ceremony was hoisted in the Park Sheraton Hotel at Alwarpet. This much awaited day 23rd Dec had the Covenantians and their families connect with each other. The air was filled with joy and Christmas Spirit. We were honoured to have Thiru P.W.C Davidar IAS Secretary to Government, Information Technology Department, TN Govt , Dr. J.V. Peter, Corporate Lawyer Mr. Ravi Paul, Mr. Christopher, Mr. Sanjay Pinto Executive Editor NDTV Hindu as our esteemed Chief Guests.
Change in Location of Office: Our Hyderabad team as well as our Bangalore team saw major expansions. Our Hyderabad team opened their second office in Astral Heights in Banjara Hills and our Bangalore took up a new office at 6th Block also in Koramangala.
Ethnic Day in Covenant: In continuation to the Fun at Work agenda, the Covenantians decided to sport exclusive ethnic wear to office. In an era of modernization and westernization, the ethnic wear has been forgotten for a while and the Covenantians wished to be mavericks to that idea and had The Covenantanian Ethnic Wear Day on the 21st August 2010 . This was a big day in Covenant's diary, one that was filled with colour and radiance. Check out some photos.
Cricket Win: Friendly matches were played between Covenant and other hiring firms. Covenant won the matches, and every minute was something to cherish.
Issac was in full form. His match winning performance was breathtaking.
Rahul was the find of the Tournament. His talents were REALLY exposed!
Overwhelming Performance resulting in a Potluck: The performance of the team was so superb that our Management called for a potluck party. We had scrumptious food and desert to our hearts content… not once… but twice… we look for many more!
Wedding Bells: Sweety, Althea & William are a few Covenantians who were married this year.
Kids: Ramesh was blessed with a baby this year.
The 26th of June 2010 and 03rd of July 2010, were two special days in our calendar. It was on these two days we had the ERA Sports meet conducted in the Pachiappas College Ground. Victories in Foot Ball, Throw Ball, Tennikoit, Volley Ball & Athletics due to the extraordinary performance of our sports men and women gave Covenant the over-all trophy leaving the other competitors far behind! Winning the Trophy was like taking a walk in the park on a cool autumn evening.
Football- The turning point for Covenant was when Benji volunteered (NOT) to be the goal keeper during the penalty shoot outs. This proved to be a master stoke of an idea bringing laurels to our team. Thanks a ton Benji. A must say here is the high commitment level of Joshua Gerald even after a (family threatening) injury. Jerald, your contribution was very IMPORTANT. Our players snatched a deserving lead thus winning the trophy. In our Football team we had the contribution of Balu, Denver, Satya, Benji, Sam from our Hyderabad team, Roderick, Rajasekar, Nixon, Gerard & Guru.
Cricket- The true colors of the Covenant Cricket team was finally displayed. We prove to be champion cricketers only among champion teams… and we have a tendency to loose to the other teams… most of the time! There is still a confusion over the responsibility that ought to have been taken care of by the team captain. The team is looking forward for Joshua… or is it Murali to stand up! Our Cricket Team comprised of Praweesh, Murali, Rajesh (Office Asst.), Sam from our Manufacturing team, Sam from our Hyderabad team, Sandeep, Isaac, Satya, Joshua, Roderick, Andrew, Augustin, Srinivasan, Newton & Benji.
Athletic Team- Trail Blazed is the word that comes to our mind watching our resplendent Athletic team perform. It was a feast to the eye. They almost lapped the other participants who had no other way but follow! The Covenantians who represented our organisation for this event were Bino, Malcom, Jaaz, Joshua Gerald, Juliana, Steffie, Surekha and Luna.
Tennikoit- Inspite of getting to know the rules 5 minutes before the match, the team showed a splendiferous performance. Juliana, Vinolia, Surekha and Luna did a great job.
Volley Ball- Our very native game with which our team is more than well versed… IDEA… IDEA… IDEA was the trick that paid us well. Our Volley Ball team had the rich expertise contributions of Alexander Jebasingh, Rajesh Samuel, Isaac, Boaz, Newton, Bino, Peter & Balu.
Throw Ball- Inspite of getting Mini (many) hits… the team stood unmoved and strong. The team fought back thick and thin and threw to the opposition whatever came their way thus claiming the trophy. Vinolia, Juliana, Mini, Surekha, Vinodhini, Selvapriya, Kelvini, Steffi & Luna stole the day.
Covenant was the OVERALL CHAMPION by a large margin…
Volleyball: Our Volleyball team members fought their way through to win the ERA Volley Ball Trophy. Under the leadership of Joshua (he asked me to write this !!!!), the teams performance was outstanding. This calls to attention that Alex and Rajesh scored well for us with their ingenious smashing and placing skills. Off field, they had a tough time warding off selection issues like not letting Praweesh in the team. They appointed him coach of their team with the mindset to keep him off the court and never did they heed to any of his kingly coach advice.
Cricket: Cricket matches were conducted on a regular basis:
Personality Development: Agnes Amos, author and Life Coach from USA visited covenant on her book promotion tour to India from Nov 23rd to 27th, 2009. Her art of speaking showed her expertise in the arena and domain of Corporate Leadership. She taught us how to develop confidence, express ideas with authority, and communicate with charisma to influence and win over an audience.
Movies: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Keeping this in mind, the Covenentians decided to watch two movies at office. We watched two football related movies, Remember the Titans,All of us voted it as a very heart rendering and inspirational movie. The other movie was Facing the Giants.
Wedding Bells: Mini, Sharlin, Hannah, Vivek Kumar, Tannya Rachel, Nixon, Jayapriya and Peter were few Covenantians who were married this year.
Kids: Cheruba, Angel, Vellin Giri and Balu were blessed with children this year.
Thanksgiving & Christmas: 23rd December 2009 saw the Covenantians celebrate Christmas & Thanksgiving at The Park Sheraton. Dressed in their stunning best, men in elegant suits and the women in sarees, they added colour to the festive season defying the hackneyed “green and red” colours of the season . It was a time filled with fun and frolic, where every Covenentian and their family were in the zenith of enthrallment. Angeline and Peter did an applause deserving MCing job. We had two very eminent people with us as our Chief Guests; Rev Pastor Sam P Chelladurai and Thiru P.W.C Davidar IAS Secretary to Government, Information Technology Department, TN Govt. Our band “Voice of Covenant” gave a hypnotic, spellbinding and mesmeric performance. This was followed by Awards Distribution for top performers under the auspices of Praweesh and the Annual Report was presented by Joshua. This day ended on a cheerful note commemorating the successful year of 2009 and welcoming the new 2010.
Dueman and Tannya joined in Holy matrimony in a glorious wedding ceremony. Covenantians had a wonderful time…but the caterers didn’t.
Badminton has become the flavor of the season … Sam being the man to beat… Robin and Alex being the challengers… Robin again takes the cake for being the ‘best (un)dressed player’… Newton is easily the most improved player… Murali and Josh keep ‘saying’ that they are a good doubles team…and the ‘forgettable’ moments were the ‘Ardy Bernardus Wiranata’ like spectacular shots which Praweesh… missed!
Bangalore Office Opening: Covenant expanded its boundaries in Feb 2008 by inaugurating its Bangalore branch.
5th anniversary Celebration: Covenant crossed the milestone of five successful years of operation in May 2008. To mark the event, we had a videoconference linking everyone at Covenant from offices all over the country. It was a wonderful get-together! Robin and Johnson created t-shirts for the occasion – a smart design with the Covenant logo proudly emblazoned. Murali and the Administration team made sure everyone took home some delicious sweets.
Training Programs: In Oct Joshua Madan (Head Operations) was a faculty for a Traininng Program organized by the ERA. Joshua’s well-received lecture covered latest executive search techniques.
Cricket: Sports Secretary Robert was behind the 20-20 Cricket Match held between Hawks and Tigers at MCC. The Hawks won this closely fought match by 7 runs – Nixon’s 30 minute over was brilliant. Vijay from Engineering Practice was the Man of the Match.
In SEP two new teams “Lighting strikers” and “Thunder Storms” were formed and the match between the teams was a nail bitter – ‘Cool’ Srini doing a Miandad hitting the winning runs of the last ball of the match to win the match for the “Lighting strikers”
In Oct the match was won by “Thunder Storms” but it was a sad day for cricket with only “one team playing in the spirit of the game” .Joshua played a ‘Steve Waugh’ like inspired knock to give the “Thunder Storms” a deserving victory….this match is also remembered infamously because Praweesh did a ‘Mike Gatting’ and Dueman did a ‘John Mc Enroe’!!!! so it is only fair say as Shastri says ‘it is the game of cricket that lost that day’
In Nov Covenant selected its cricket team which went smoothly with only one issue of who’s name should be written on the team sheet first…with that sorted out, two matches were fixed (arranged) against two local teams with Covenant losing both the matches narrowly with a wide margin.
Carrom Tournament: Was conducted in the month of September .Venkat and Anish were the double winners beating Praweesh and Rajesh in the finals.Rajesh won the singles title beating Srini in the finals. This set the tone for the Late night Games (carrom): over the matches played it was found out that Murali and Venkat were the men to beat in singles. The doubles team of Murali and Joshua had won most matches…more to do with their gift of the gab…much to the chagrin of Newton and his teams .Nixon is one player to watch…. (not hear)…we warn you that you would be waiting till eternity till he completes a shot….and it is fair to say that the unforgettable moments were provided by the ‘Maria Irudayam’ like “spectacular” shots of Praweesh ……
Prayer and Worship Team: This team was formed under the leadership of Priyaraj,Sharon and Angelo
JCFC: This fellowship program was started in Sep 2008.The fellowship meets on every Saturday for a time of earnest learning of Life application lessons from the Bible.
Career Guidance and Leadership Programs :On Oct 3rd and 4th, Praweesh Kumar (Director) was invited to address a group of 60 youth from Marthoma youth fellowship for a 2-day program on career guidance and leadership.
